The southern German city of Heidelberg is not only renowned for its tourist attractions but also for its scientific profile. The city and its facilities are set to grow. The only limitation is space. This is why using and reconstructing the former US military zones within the city limits is a golden opportunity. Heidelberg Innovation Park (HIP), the city’s future business campus currently under construction, is a case in point.
The BDC is the first new building on this site. A large sports complex is also being built, while the first few of the existing buildings are being renovated for subsequent use. The future development of the area will focus on collaboration between established companies and start-ups, in line with HIP’s slogan: “work connected”. HIP will become the new techie hotspot.
