A few years ago, extended reality applications like virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), mixed reality (MR) and spatial computing were known mostly for their application in gaming or movie industries. However recently, there has been an increasing trend to explore potential medical applications for spatial computing technologies. In 2018 Brainlab, a software-driven med tech firm, and Magic Leap, the world’s most advanced spatial computing platform, entered into a strategic partnership to redefine how surgeons and other clinicians visualize and access medical imaging data. In November 2019, Brainlab launched one of the first resulting products with more than 120 devices already sold around the world. During this presentation, you will be taken on a development journey providing insights into technical features and clinical challenges.
