What started as a small idea along the Philosophenweg in Heidelberg has grown into a startup now stepping onto bigger stages. Black Forest Labs will be part of the Käpsele Innovation Festival in Freiburg.
Black Forest Labs, a cutting-edge AI startup focused on generative models for images and video, is pushing the boundaries of visual intelligence with technologies like its FLUX model family - enabling highly realistic image generation, editing, and creative applications for users worldwide.
At the Käpsele Innovation Festival, you’ll have the chance to meet its founder, Robin Rombach, in person. Before launching Black Forest Labs, he was part of the CompVis group at Heidelberg University, where he contributed to the development of Stable Diffusion, one of the most influential breakthroughs in modern generative AI.
On July 16, 2026 the Käpsele Innovation Festival brings together startups, corporates, academia, and policymakers to collaborate on real-world challenges and future technologies. With over 1,500 participants, multiple stages, and topics ranging from AI and robotics to GreenTech and digital transformation, the event is designed to create meaningful connections and tangible outcomes - not just conversations.
