The Heidelberg startup scene celebrated two outstanding companies on November 17, 2023: Onuava and Codefy are the first winners of the Heidelberg Startup Award. At the festive ceremony in the Altes Hallenbad, they were honored for their achievements in the categories of "Courage" and "Innovation." Mayor Eckart Würzner emphasized the significance of the award, which rewards brave and innovative founders and also motivates others to start their own businesses.
Onuava, winner in the "Courage" category, was founded by Dr. Julia Reichert and Katharina Jung and offers digital health services. Their business model, which helps companies support their employees on the journey to having children, was particularly praised by the jury. Ines Hotz from Sparkasse Heidelberg, a jury member, highlighted how impressive it is that Onuava addresses a taboo topic and pursues innovative approaches.
Codefy, the winner in the "Innovation" category, impressed with its AI-driven software used in the legal and administrative sectors to speed up processes. The company, founded by Tianyu Yuan, Jakub Szypulka, and Dr. Carsten Günther, stands out for its sustainable business model and high innovation potential. Christopher Lorenz from Heidelberger Volksbank, also a jury member, emphasized the quality and potential of Codefy.
More than 50 companies applied for the first Heidelberg Startup Award. In addition to the winners, the finalists eloquio, living brain, AaviGen, and blue activity also stood out, showing impressive innovations in their fields. The Heidelberg Startup Award, initiated by the City of Heidelberg and supported by various local partners, aims to promote and further strengthen the city's dynamic and creative startup culture.
